I set up this Blog when I was heading away to do a year volunteer work with an agency called VSO (www.vso.ie). My Initial plan was for one year in Eritrea, based in the capital city of Eritrea called Asmara. I was to be working with the Ministry for Education on implementing an Educational Management Information System (EMIS). Sadly, due to a few issues in the country, I was unable to stay, myself and 5 other new volunteers had to leave after 2 months.
After that I ended up in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and worked there for 6 months. I was involved in a number of projects, with my main focus on computers in schools. I also was examining the One laptop per child scheme and looking at environmental issues of computer waste. Mix in a little of been a social organiser and some helpful tasks of fixing up the office IT systems and procedures, I was kept busy
A number of people suggested keeping a diary, but as anyone who knows me, there is two problems with that.
- My writing is terrible, even I sometimes have trouble reading what I wrote
- My spelling is almost as bad
As a result I felt a Blog would be a good way to about keeping my diary of my year away, so welcome to my Blog, feel free to leave any comments you might like on anything I have posted. Always enjoy a nice discussion.
Enjoy the read
